A pair of bills signed by California Governor Jerry Brown should help reduce carbon emissions over the next ten years. SB 32 extends an already written law and implements even more sweeping changes by slashing emissions 40% below 1990 levels. The deadline is 2030. AB 197 gives lawmakers more authority over environment-saving efforts through the creation of a new legislative committee. Meanwhile, stronger regulations will be placed on businesses, and rebates will be provided for those who purchase electric vehicles. California’s economy is now the sixth largest in the world. This is a big deal!
